Project Designer / Interior Designer

Job Duties
The Interior Designer / Project Designer plays a key role in designing and overseeing the construction of high-end residential interior design-build projects of various scales across New York City. Works directly with the Principal in the construction aspect of the design and ensures seamless communication to the clients. Works one-on-one with clients on the décor aspect of the projects, from initial concept to final move-in, and manages all phases of the interior design process with precision and attention to detail.
Project Design & Planning
- Preparation of client design presentations which includes compiling inspiration images, creating 3D view rendering, floor plan layout, elevations, materiality, millwork designs, lighting strategies and Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) selection. This involves proficiency in software such as AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, and Mozaik. Presentation tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Suite applications are also utilized.
Project Management & Site Construction Administration
- Schedule and conduct meetings with sub-contractors to review design and construction drawings, approval and establish timelines. Primary point of contact between Principal and Contractor.
- Monitor adherence to budget and schedule, assist Principal in choosing vendors.
Project Pricing, Documentation & Orders
- Bid out project design and construction elements for pricing. Consolidating these using Microsoft Office Suite and company specific project management software.
- Prepare a specification book which includes FF&E selections, stone & tile, furniture, appliances, materiality, and paint/wallpaper schedules for the client's home.
- Work with clients and principal to get the project to their desired budget by specifying FF&E, creating designs and construction quotations.
- Manage orders and deliveries of FF&E and Décor items and approve tracking sheets created by the assistant designer.
- Sourcing samples for client approval and pricing approval.
Client Communication
- Assist Principal in bigger client meetings that involve design and concept development. Lead smaller meetings with clients on specification development, furniture, paint schedule, FF&E and fixtures selections. Ensure sign off on all approvals by client.
Permitting Process & DOB (Department of Buildings) Approval
- Compiling documentation and design blueprints to send to the building for approval. Provide any information and documentation needed by the building engineer.
- Working knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements and know where they are required.
- Work with architect and expeditor in getting design documents approved and permitting process with DOB filed.
Décor
- Maintain up to date knowledge about new interior design, materiality and furniture trends. Create mood boards for client review of a cohesive design style, using software such as Canva and Adobe Suite.
Position Requirements
U.S. Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. Must have demonstrated knowledge or experience with the following software programs: Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, Sketchup, Mozaik, Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Adobe Creative Cloud: Illustrator, Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, and Canva.
